Christian Senior Ministries will hold its 10th annual Walk for Seniors at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Walcamp in Kingston.

The event was renamed The Rev. Harold W. Schmidt Walk for Seniors in recognition and honor of Schmidt (Trinity Lutheran Church, Genoa, pastor emeritus) who was actively involved with Christian Senior Ministries and was instrumental in developing this annual event.

Walk for Seniors is the primary fundraising effort for Christian Senior Ministries outside of direct support from its supporting congregations. Christian Senior Ministries is a mission effort initiated and grown out of a recognized need for worship opportunities for people who are confined to care facilities in DeKalb and Ogle counties. It provides the Gospel message on a weekly basis to 14 facilities in DeKalb and Ogle counties. Worship opportunities are provided to more than 250 people weekly. Christian Senior Ministries also provides Bible study, counseling, visitation and assistance to residents and their families through volunteers.
