Damato graduates from basic training

Army Pfc. Richard V. Damato has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Damato is the son of Michael Damato of Kirkland. He is a 2005 graduate of Hiawatha High School and he earned an associate’s degree in 2009 from Rock Valley College, Rockford.

Kostal graduates from basic training

Air Force Airman Jerome D. Kostal graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Kostal is the son of Anne Fluegel of Cortland and Jerome Kostal of Palatine. He is a 2007 graduate of Palatine High School.

Busche graduates from basic training

Army National Guard Pvt. Scott T. Busche has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Busche is a 2011 graduate of Genoa-Kingston High School.

Barnica graduates from basic training

Army Spec. Jeffrey R. Barnica has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.

Barnica is the son of Janet and Rick Barnica of DeKalb. He is a 2003 graduate of St. Paul High School, Neb. He earned a bachelor’s degree in 2007 from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Neb.
