GENOA – A Genoa woman was removed from her vehicle and flown to a Rockford hospital after a one-car rollover crash shortly before midnight Tuesday.
Jami L. Wright, 23, of the 300 block of West Hill Street, was headed west on Derbyline Road in Genoa just west of Hayes Road when she fell asleep while driving home from work, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
Her vehicle went into the north ditch, through a fence and into a bean field.
The vehicle rolled three times before it came to rest in a row of hedges, authorities said. Sheriff’s deputies responded to the call at 11:53 p.m., along with the Genoa-Kingston Fire Department.
Wright, who was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, was removed from the vehicle and flown to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford in a Lifeline helicopter. Her Nissan was towed from the scene.
Officials at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center told the Daily Chronicle on Wednesday they had no record of Wright as a patient.
