DeKalb man pleads guilty in sex case

SYCAMORE — A man authorities said sexually assaulted a girl in December in DeKalb was sentenced Wednesday to prison.

During a hearing at the DeKalb County Courthouse, Nicholas Gaye, 30, of the 100 block of North Second Street in DeKalb, pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

He had been charged in December with two counts of criminal sexual assault and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Authorities said Gaye sexually assaulted a 16-year-old he met on Facebook.

Gaye, who had been on probation for a felony charge in Kane County, was sentenced to five years in prison, receiving credit for time served in jail. His sentence also includes two years of parole and he must register as a sex offender for life.
