Letter: Great athletic tradition at H-BR part of 1,000th game
To the Editor:
Thank you so much for the fine coverage you gave recently to Hinckley-Big Rock’s historical 1,000th soccer game. The article is refreshing in this era filled with stories of steroid use, recruiting violations, athletes arrested, fans fighting and parents harassing coaches.
This game and celebration captured what high school sports should be about: pride in tradition, warm community support and an environment for athletes to enjoy, grow as individuals and build memories. I suspect today those virtues found at H-BR athletics are not too different than they were in the era of that first soccer game in 1970.
