More than 300 people attended the Great Genoa Duck Race sponsored by the Genoa Area Chamber of Commerce on Sept. 8.

This year’s event was expanded to include sponsors, a variety of vendors, food booths, games, a moon bounce and musical entertainment.

More than 1,800 ducks floated down the Kishwaukee River in the main event.

Kelly Hardt of Genoa won the grand prize of $500. Pam Mettler’s duck finished second, winning her $250, and Sherry Frankenbach came in third for $100. The last duck to cross the line was purchased by the American Legion Auxiliary, which won $50.
