Prep roundup: Kaneland runner finishes in top 10 at invite
AURORA – Kaneland’s Kyle Carter led the Knights at the Charger Classic Invitational by finishing sixth Saturday in a time of 14 minutes, 57 seconds on the 2.9-mile course. Carter became the first Kaneland runner to break the 15-minute mark on the flat, fast course at Oakhurst Park.
“We had a very encouraging and fortunate day,” Kaneland coach Chad Clarey said. “Encouraging to see our pack split 1 to 6 of just 65 seconds. Fortunate that none of our runners [were] seriously injured.”
Senior Conor Johnson (15:15), senior John Meisenger (15:46), junior Ryan Bower (16:00) and senior Brandon Huber (16:02) also scored for the Knights, who took sixth as a team in the 29-team invitational.
