EVANSTON – Police in suburban Chicago were investigating the death of 14-year-old boy who was shot in Evanston.

The Evanston Police Department said officers responded to a call of shots fired around 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Cook County medical examiner's office identified the boy as Dajae Coleman of Evanston. He died at the scene.

The boy's coach called Coleman a "model citizen."

Tyrone Wilson Sr. was Coleman's football coach. He called the boy a gifted athlete who was always happy.

The North Regional Major Crimes Task Force was helping with the investigation.

No other details on the shooting were immediately available.
