Prep Football Week 5: Fall Weather Begins

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

We're at the midpoint of the high school football regular season and with it comes the beginnings of fall.

For those of us in the stands or in the press box, it means no more t-shirts and shorts. Bust out the blankets, school-pride sweatshirts and even the handwarmers.

But it also might lead to changes on the field. As the temperature drops, teams tend to rely less on the passing game, choosing to keep it on the ground.

While I don't think you'll see dramatic shifts in play-calling tonight, it will be something to look at in the upcoming weeks. Will Kaneland QB Drew David give way to more rushing attempts for Jesse Balluff? Will you start to see Sycamore WR Ben Niemann on more direct handoffs rather than post routes?

Just something to ponder during halftime of tonight's contests and to keep your mind off the guessing game of how many interceptions Jay Cutler is going to throw this Sunday.

We'll see you under the lights!
