Woman pleads guilty to trying to destroy evidence

SYCAMORE – A DeKalb woman police say tried to conceal evidence from the scene of a gang-related beating in February 2010 was sentenced to probation Thursday.

During a hearing at the DeKalb County Courthouse, Karissa T. Marsh, 20, of the 1300 block of Sunrise Drive in DeKalb, pleaded guilty to attempting to destroy gang-related evidence.

Police said Marsh, arrested in July, attempted to obstruct the prosecution of one of six men and two juveniles charged in the 2010 gang-related beating in DeKalb that left one victim with a broken collarbone and caused another to lose an eye.

She had been charged with concealing evidence after she retrieved a handgun from the crime scene and hid it in her car before fleeing the area.

Marsh was sentenced to 18 months of probation and $1,200 in fines and costs.
