Schepler nominated for Senior CLASS Award

Northern Illinois tight end and Sycamore graduate Jason Schepler has been named a canidate for the 2012 Senior CLASS Award for football. The award is given annually to a Football Bowl Subdivision senior that excels in four areas –  community, classroom, character and competition. Schepler is one of 30 nominees.

Schepler, an electrical engineering major, carries a 3.85 grade point average and does community service work that includes activities and speaking engagements at schools, nursing homes and hospitals. He has also volunteered at elementary school fun fairs, Boy Scout "Sports Day" at NIU, as well as summer camps.

The Sycamore product hasn't caught a pass so far this season, but NIU head coach Dave Doeren has mentioned his run-blocking ability as a reason for the Huskies' strong rushing attack.
