Published: Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012 11:28 a.m. CDT

On Sept. 29 and 30, the DeKalb County Quilters’ Guild will host its Harvest of Quilts 2012 quilt show at Sycamore Middle School, 150 Maplewood Drive.

The cost of admission is $5 each day or $6 for a two-day pass and can be paid at the door. Children 12 and younger are admitted free. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 29 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 30

About 200 pieces by local quilters, in sizes from bed quilts to wall hangings to miniature quilts, will be displayed. The quilted pieces will be judged by Maribeth Schmit, NQA-certified quilt judge, lecturer, instructor and award-winning quilter. The featured artist at the show will be Lois Jarvis.

Guild members have made 100 small quilted items for a silent small quilt auction. Members also will sell items at a handmade gift boutique. Quilting and sewing supplies will be available for purchase from the merchants’ mall. A lunch will be catered by Shawn’s Restaurant and Deli from Sycamore.

Janette Dwyer, an American Quilt Society certified quilt and textile appraiser, will be available to appraise quilts. She will provide written proof for insurance, fair market or donation values. Anyone can bring a quilted piece to the show to be appraised for a $40 fee.
