Genoa Lions celebrate Oktoberfest

Published: Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012 11:28 a.m. CDT

The Genoa Lions Club will hold its fourth annual Oktoberfest in Chamberlain Park from 2 to 9 p.m. Oct. 6.

In past years, more than 600 adults and children have attended this event. NB&T will sponsor a band stage, which will feature PK & The Groove, The Hitmen and Shuvlhed. For the kids there will be games, face painting, two jump houses, a balloon artist and a magician.

Food will be provided by the Genoa-Kingston sports boosters, The Corner Grill and Muscato’s Pizza. The beer tent will be open throughout the event. There will be two 50/50 raffles. Tickets cost $1.

Entry is $5 for people 12 and older; children younger than 12 attend free. The entrance fee includes one free raffle ticket. The first 150 people will receive a free Tyrolia hat or Oktoberfest T-shirt by Wakoh Wear. Country Financial will provide free plastic Tyrolia hats for kids.

The Genoa Lions Club uses the profits from this event to fund four college scholarships for local high school seniors, eyeglass assistance for local people, donations for the Lake Shabbona Fishing Derby for the disabled, the Ski for Sight cross-country skiing weekend for the blind, Meals on Wheels in Genoa, the local spelling bee, student citizen of the year for each grade, and many other local charities.
