Sox can extend lead to 3 games vs. Tigers

CHICAGO – In the teams' final meeting of the regular season, the Sox can increased their division lead to three games with a win over Detroit today.

Today's game is to makeup Thursday's which was rained out. Rookie left-hander Jose Quintana (6-4, 3.52 ERA) starts while right-hander Doug Fister (9-8, 3.49) takes the mound for Detroit. In his last five starts, Quintana owns a 6.39 ERA. Quintana allowed one run on 7 2/3 innings in his start Monday versus the Tigers.

The Sox have dropped nine of their last 10 games against Detroit and lost 18 of the last 23.

Dewayne Wise gets the start in center field in place of Alejandro De Aza. Manager Robin Ventura said De Aza has been out of sync at the plate since Saturday and needs to correct some issues before returning to the lineup.

After today's game, the Sox continue their road trip, traveling to Kansas City for a three-game series that begins tomorrow.
