Northern Rehab therapist receives credentials
Todd Vanatta, physical therapist at Northern Rehab Physical Therapy Specialists, recently received credentialing as a Certified Functional Manual Therapist through The Institute of Physical Art.
Testing was completed in Steamboat Springs, Colo., including an intense four days of review and two days of written and hands-on practical testing. He tested along with 26 other physical therapists from around the country. The instructors testing the class included Gregg and Vicky Johnson, founders of the IPA, and the functional manual therapy approach.
The approach taught through the IPA includes direct, hands-on treatment to any area of impairment, specific structure, or associated areas causing problems to reoccur. Through kinesthetic training and neuromuscular facilitation techniques, it also focuses on improving efficient movement and function throughout any area of the body or with any activity.
Vanatta joins approximately 200 therapists with this distinction from around the country. He continues to assist with labs in courses from the IPA throughout the country, and will continue to take advanced courses offered. He works with all orthopedic diagnoses, and all areas of the body or dysfunction, including headaches, TMJ and spinal dysfunction.
