Robert and Sharon Scott will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 16 at Kishwaukee Country Club in DeKalb.
Robert Scott and Sharon Holder were married Sept. 15, 1962, at the First Baptist Church in DeKalb.
Sharon is retired from Northern Illinois University and Bob was a crane operator with Local 150.
They have three sons, Gary Scott of Sycamore, Jeff Scott of New Richmond, Wis., and Craig (Jen) Scott of Sycamore. They also have six grandchildren, Ryan, Alex, Audra, Trent, Brooke and Jake Scott.
The couple lived on Pleasant Hill Road in Sycamore most of their married life.
They now reside in Montrose, Colo., since retiring in 2001. Their address is 22924 V66 Trail, Montrose, CO 81403.
Amanda Lee King and Ethan Michael O’Connor, both of Antioch, Tenn., were married on May 21, 2011, at the Baker Memorial United Methodist Church in St. Charles.
The bride is the daughter of Dwight and Linda King of Aurora. The groom is the son of Al and Judy O’Connor of DeKalb.
The maid of honor was Stephanie Renner of North Aurora, cousin of the bride, and the matron of honor was Kara King of Aurora, sister-in-law of the bride.
Bridesmaids were Christina King of Sugar Grove, sister-in-law of the bride, Emily Lovaasen of Oak Park, cousin of the bride, and Kristin Taylor of DeKalb, sister of the groom.
Flower girls were Lindsey O’Connor of Longs, S.C., niece of the groom, and Kaidyn King of Aurora, niece of the bride.
The best man was Sean O’Connor of Longs, S.C., brother of the groom.
Groomsmen were Tyler Ball of Maple Grove, Minn., Jason Bayle of Baton Rouge, La., Chris Szalaj of Hendersonville, Tenn., all friends of the groom, Jason King of Aurora and Adam King of Sugar Grove, both brothers of the bride.
Ushers were Donnie Renner of Chicago, cousin of the bride, and Drew Taylor of DeKalb, nephew of the groom.
Ring bearers were Katcher King of Aurora, nephew of the bride, and Nathan O’Connor of Longs, S.C., nephew of the groom.
The officiant for the wedding was Pastor John Dreyer, cousin of the bride. Musicians were Mark Edwards, Linden Christ, Magaly Dietz, Wendy Van Asten, Sarah Gorke, Tyler Ball, Jason Bayle, Brett Holcomb, Scott Laudick, Sean O’Connor, Kevin Schoenbach, Chris Szalaj and Drew Taylor. Readers were Mary Renner, Lindsay Brown and Christina O’Connor.
The reception was held at Whitetail Ridge Golf Club, Yorkville, and the wedding trip was to Hawaii.
The bride is a graduate of West Aurora High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in music education from Northern Illinois University and her master’s degree in vocal performance and pedagogy from Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. She is an adjunct professor of music at Middle Tennessee State University and Nashville State Community College and a member of the Nashville Symphony Chorus and the Nashville Opera Chorus.
The groom is a graduate of DeKalb High School. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music theory and composition from Northern Illinois University. He is director of Client Analysis at Dominic and Irvine Research in Franklin, Tenn., and a freelance musician and arranger.
The couple resides in Antioch, Tenn.
