Glasses help people worldwide
Four years ago, Sycamore Lion Bud Wallace saw the need to help the Lions of Illinois Foundation. He organized the club’s Eyeglass Sorting Committee, which he continues to chair.
Every Wednesday, some members of the Sycamore Lions Club spend their morning sorting the used eyeglasses that Lions Clubs collect to recycle. Many of the glasses can be reused by less fortunate people worldwide. Those that cannot be reused are recycled, and the profits help fund 13 programs for people with vision and hearing impairments that the Lions of Illinois Foundation administers throughout Illinois.
People can help by depositing any unusable or no longer needed eyeglasses, hearing aids, cell phones, keys and aluminum pop tops in the black Sycamore Lions box on the southeast corner of Elm and California streets in Sycamore.
