Doris Huie and Robert Boey were united in marriage on Aug. 4, 1962, at St. Brendan Church in Brooklyn, N.Y.
The couple renewed their wedding vows on Aug. 4, 2012, at St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb.
In honor of the 50th anniversary of Doris and Robert Boey, a golden anniversary dinner party was hosted by their children at the Barsema Alumni and Visitor’s Center at Northern Illinois University.
James E. and Mary E. Franklin of DeKalb will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at an open house hosted by their family. The event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 16 at Knights of Columbus, 1336 E. Lincoln Highway, DeKalb.
The couple was married Sept. 1, 1962, at St. Mary Catholic Church in DeKalb.
Mary is a retired nurse and James is a general contractor.
They have three children, James (Tanya) Franklin of Walton, Ky., Thomas (Robin) Franklin of DeKalb, and Andrew (Cindy) Franklin of DeKalb.
They also have six grandchildren, Jennifer (Will) Talbott of Honolulu, Hawaii, Kim (Mike) Yakima of Whitmore Lake, Mich., Kristina Franklin of DeKalb, Tyler Franklin of Mount Home, Ark., Daniel Franklin and David Franklin, both of DeKalb. They also have five great-grandchildren, Caleb and Peyton Talbott of Honolulu, Hawaii, Ava Franklin of DeKalb, and Stella and Charlie Yakima of Whitmore Lake, Mich.
Jennifer Crawford and Dan Block were married in an outdoor ceremony overlooking Lake Galena in Galena on May 26, 2012.
Dan’s brother Nick Block of Geneva was best man and Jennifer’s dear friend, Christine Chmelar, from South Elgin was maid of honor.
The ceremony and reception was an intimate affair attended by 60 close friends and family members who shared the beautiful and warm Saturday evening with the couple.
Before meeting and falling in love, Dan and Jennifer were individually career focused, each living and working in Europe for several years and each enjoyed traveling around the world for work and pleasure. But Dan and Jennifer’s paths did not cross until Autumn of 2010 when each coincidentally moved back to the local area and were brought together by mutual friends who saw how many goals and interests the two had in common.
Jennifer grew up in St. Charles and Dan is from Pearl City and the couple has decided to settle down in Sycamore to be near to their families. Both Dan and Jennifer are now looking forward to growing their own family in the near future.
Matthew Alan DeBall of DeKalb and Chelsea Jessica Franz of Cary are engaged to be married on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, in Barrington.
The son of Carolee and David DeBall of DeKalb, the groom-to-be is a 2008 graduate of DeKalb High School and a 2012 graduate of Judson University with degrees in communication arts and Biblical studies. He will attend Northern Seminary this fall to pursue his Master of Divinity.
The daughter of Wendy and Randy Franz of Cary, the bride-to-be is a 2008 graduate of Cary Grove High School and will graduate this fall from Judson University with degrees in psychology and media studies.
Robert “Bob” Schlieben of Batavia will celebrate his 99th birthday on Sept. 7, with his children at a family dinner.
He retired from Driv-Lok as an accountant at the age of 73, and has enjoyed the retired life since.
He has five children, Tom Schlieben of Sycamore, Bill (Trudy) Schlieben of Sycamore, Jeanne Schlieben of Batavia, Nancy (Al) Harms of Batavia and John (Darcy) of DeKalb; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Almena Gudmunsen of Sycamore will celebrate her 94th birthday with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at a private party.
Almena was born Aug. 26, 1918.
She has five children, Marcia (Wes) Wilson of Sycamore, Mark (Julie) Gudmunsen of Michigan, Mary Long of Sycamore, Eva Funk of Hinckley and Elaine Gudmunsen of Florida.
She also has 11 grandchildren, Andy Gudmunsen of New York, Eric (Shelly) Gudmunsen of Michigan, Kyle Gudmunsen of Michigan, Brian (April) Funk of Hinckley, Bryce Long of Maine, Jennifer Pigott of Sycamore, Brianne (Doug) Wackerlin of Waterman, Caleb Wilson of Sycamore, the late Christopher Gudmunsen and the late Adam Wilson; and nine great-grandchildren, Amber, Abbie, Mallorie, Kaylyn, Jessica, Zoey, Cameron, Taylar and Noah.
