Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church in Sycamore will return to its regular worship schedule on Sunday. Services will be held at 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.
The 7:30 a.m. service offers the traditional language of Rite One. The service is quiet and contemplative, and the focus of the prayers is on the cross and passion of Christ, God’s mercy, and our penitence. The language of this service dates to the roots of Anglicanism in the 1500s.
The 10 a.m. service offers the contemporary language of Rite Two. The service is a joyful and exuberant celebration of the resurrection of Christ, God’s love, and the dignity and freedom we receive through the power of the resurrection. Hymns are sung by the congregation, and organ and piano music also are featured. Child care for infants and toddlers through age 3 is offered during the service.
Sunday School will open at 8:45 a.m. Sept. 9. Children, age 3 through fifth grade, are welcome in Sunday School. Middle school and high school students will move to an evening Youth Group and the time and date will be announced in October.
Saint Peter’s welcomes all people to worship, and all baptized persons are invited to receive Holy Communion. For those looking for more meaning and deepened spirituality, the Episcopal Church offers honest and unconditional acceptance, which removes barriers to Jesus Christ and permits belonging to an authentic church community.
Saint Peter’s is located at 218 Somonauk St. in Sycamore. The church is accessible to the disabled. For more information, call the church office at 815-895-2227 or visit www.sycamorestpeters.org.
