Complete the Circle: Spirituality and Mental Health
Often the most powerful interventions in psychotherapy are also profound spiritual practices. Join KishHealth System therapist Theresa Schade, licensed clinical social worker, to explore interventions such as gratitude, compassion and acceptance. A.W.A.K.E. Sleep Apnea Group
Alert, Well, And Keeping Energetic (A.W.A.K.E.) focuses on health awareness for people affected by sleep apnea. The group will meets from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 10 in Kish Hospital’s Roberts Conference Center. Registration is required for this free program and closes three days before the program date. Lunches To Fit Your Food Plan
When you have diabetes you are faced with eating the right balance of foods. When it comes to lunch, whether you eat at home, at a restaurant or carry a sack lunch, this class can help. A Kish Hospital diabetes educator also gives ideas for packing school lunches. Take home recipes and menus for delicious take-along meals provided. This free class will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept, 11 in Kish Hospital’s Roberts Conference Center. Registration is required and closes five days before the program date. Whole Grains: Good and Good For You
USDA dietary guidelines suggest to work toward making half your grains whole grains. This class focuses on the basics of whole grain cookery and the benefits of whole grains. Jo Cessna, healthy culinary instructor, teaches a variety of applications using whole grains in breakfasts, side and main dishes. This class will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 12 at Hy-Vee in Sycamore. Cost is $10 per person. Registration is required and closes five days prior to program date.
