Former Northern Illinois linebacker Devon Butler is on the Western Illinois football roster, according to the Western Illinois University football website.

Butler, who was dismissed from the NIU football team July 25 after what coach Dave Doeren said was a series of conversations about the linebacker’s conduct, is listed as No. 14 for the Leathernecks.

Butler was stabbed – more than a year after surviving a gunshot wound – in an off-campus incident July 22, though he was treated and released from Kishwaukee Hospital and Doeren said Butler’s dismissal wasn’t solely because of the incident.
