Consumers feel pinch as gas prices spike
SYCAMORE – DeKalb County residents were feeling the pinch Monday as gas prices in the state rose by an average of 44 cents within the past week.
Account manager Chris Schaaf was already feeling the pain when he pulled into the Hy-Vee gas station to fill up his Ford Explorer. That station was selling unleaded gasoline at $3.99 a gallon Monday morning.
Schaaf said he has changed his spending habits to cut costs. But he still has to shell out about $400 because he commutes from Huntley.
