JOLIET – Drew Peterson's lawyer is telling the jury that Kathleen Savio lied about him in court documents because she was angry that Peterson was having an affair.
The documents from Peterson's third wife might prove a key part of prosecutor's case against the former police officer — that the fears she expressed of him came true when Savio died.
Prosecutors have said they want Savio to testify "from the grave" about her fears that Peterson might kill her. Peterson is charged with first-degree murder in the 2004 drowning death of Savio.
