SYCAMORE – A former Hy-Vee employee charged with stealing pills from the store and selling them appeared in court Wednesday.
During a hearing at the DeKalb County Courthouse, Melany Laird, 30, and Jeffrey S. Hyde, 38, both of the 500 block of Spring Avenue in DeKalb, appeared via closed-circuit TV from the county jail.
Both were charged with two counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
Laird, a former pharmacy technician at Hy-Vee, also was charged with theft.
If convicted of the Class 1 felony unlawful delivery of a controlled substance charge, each could face up to 15 years in prison.
Laird was charged with stealing 60 tablets of hydrocodone acetaminophen from Hy-Vee on June 9, according to court documents.
Laird and Hyde were charged with possessing less than 15 grams of hydrocodone between Feb. 1 and June 12.
Warrants issued June 25 set bond at $50,000 for Laird and Hyde.
They will appear in court again Tuesday.
