Braced for challenges
SYCAMORE – Kathy Countryman is learning to turn left.
After eight years of heading to the assistant superintendent’s office at the Sycamore School District 427 Administration Building, Countryman now finds herself on the opposite side of the hallway as head of the district. Countryman took over as superintendent July 1 from the retiring Wayne Riesen.
While remembering to turn the other direction to get to her new office has been one of the minor challenges in her first week on the job, the former Southeast Elementary School principal said she knows the real difficulties are only a few weeks away.
