MALTA – A construction-related power outage cancelled Kishwaukee College classes Monday afternoon, according to college spokeswoman Kayte Hamel.
A contractor working in the north parking lot struck a power line around 1:30 p.m. while working with a back-hoe, causing power outages in pockets of the school. Classes after 2:30 p.m. were cancelled.
Monday's outage was the second for the college in five days. A water main broke last Thursday, and water got into power source and caused an outage. The two incidents are unrelated, Hamel said.
College officials called ComEd to the scene Monday afternoon in hopes of regaining power in time for Tuesday's classes. Visit www.kishwaukeecollege.edu for updates on cancellations.
