Fiscal Year 2013 budget brings uncertainty
DeKALB – Although Illinois’ fiscal 2013 began Sunday, a number of local entities are still owed money for fiscal 2012.
Northern Illinois University is looking to collect $32.5 million – a third of the money it was allocated – while DeKalb School District 428 still is owed $2.25 million by the state, officials at the respective schools said.
For the past couple of years, the state has extended the period of time in which it can pay off old bills to Dec. 31.
