D-424 rejects all outsourcing bids

GENOA – Tears of joy filled the Genoa-Kingston High School’s community room Sunday as district officials decided to keep transportation and food services in-house.

Roughly 50 people applauded Genoa-Kingston School District 424 board members after they cast a pair of 4-3 votes to reject all bids to outsource transportation and food services during a special meeting in front of a standing-room-only crowd.

Rhonda Kuhn, a bus driver with the district for 18 years, cried with many of her co-workers and community members after board President Dale Pelley cast the deciding vote to reject the bids and break a 3-3 tie.
