Glennie Barshinger of DeKalb will celebrate her 80th birthday on July 1 at a family gathering. She was born June 27, 1932.
Glennie farmed alongside of her husband Ken for 61 years.
She has four children, Sheri Millspaugh (Bob) of Fort Wayne, Ind., Teri (Rob) Wessels of Waterman, Jeri (Mike) Moore of Woodridge and Peg (Chet) Carroll of Waterman. She also has 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Perry and Edythe (Wurster) Larsen are celebrating 60 years of marriage. They were married June 22, 1952, at Good Hope Lutheran Church in rural Elizabeth, Ill.
They settled and raised their five children in DeKalb, Allen (Janice) Larsen, Linda (Jim) Lucek, Raymond (Joan) Larsen, Dave Larsen and Dean Larsen. They have nine grandchildren, Eric, Jeff, Paul, John, Laura, Ben and Bethany Larsen, and Amanda and Emily Lucek. They also have three great-grandchildren, Sean, Ashley and Ian Larsen.
Edythe graduated from Northern Illinois State Normal School, worked as a homemaker, then as a teacher in Hinckley and later at Northern FS in DeKalb. Perry graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in electrical engineering and worked as an engineer for many years. Later he joined and eventually retired from the Psychology Department at Northern Illinois University.
Their children and extended family are very grateful for the many blessings that have come from this 60-year marriage and wish them years of additional happiness.
Dale and Linda Swedberg will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at an open house from 1 to 5 p.m. June 30 at the Sycamore VFW, 121 California St.
Dale Swedberg married Linda Evans on June 23, 1962, at Salem Lutheran Church in Sycamore. They have lived in Sycamore all their lives.
They have three children, Matt, Adam (Kris) and Eric (Melodu), and six grandchildren, Austin, Ian Shannon, Tyrus, Evan and Amanda.
The couple requests no gifts.
Paul and Carole Dolder of Waterman will celebrate their 50th anniversary with their family.
Carole Foster and Paul H. Dolder were married June 23, 1962, at St. John’s Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk.
They have one son, Andrew (Linda) Dolder of Genoa; one daughter, Annette (Mark) of Sandwich; and five grandchildren, Kyle, Mackenzie, Meredith, Steven and Mark.
Paul and Carole were treated to a performance of “The Jersey Boys,” sightseeing at The Bean and dinner at the Ron of Japan in Chicago.
Jennifer Elizabeth Brown and Stanley Edward Olson of Champaign are engaged to married on Oct. 6, 2012, at First United Methodist Church in Champaign.
The daughter of Bob and Becky Brown of DeKalb, the bride-to-be is a 1999 graduate of Morton High School in Morton, Ill., and a 2011 graduate of Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.
The son of Fran and Janie Olson of Urbana, the groom-to-be is a 1997 graduate of Champaign Central High School, and a 2001 graduate of Eastern Illinois University in Champaign.
Girton-Kvitz - Harper
Timothy and Debra Girton of Winamac, Ind., announce the engagement of their daughter, Christina Girton-Kvitz to Johnathan Harper, son of James and Brenda Smith of DeKalb. Harper is the grandson of Melvin and Wanda McBride of Sycamore.
Girton-Kvitz is a 2000 graduate of Winamac Jr./Sr. High School and a 2004 graduate of Olivet Nazarene University with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She is employed as a nurse at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth, Ind.
Harper is a 2002 graduate of DeKalb High School and a 10-year veteran of the U.S. Army and is currently employed at Hoosier Racing Tire in Plymouth.
The wedding is planned for 3:30 p.m. Aug. 18, 2012, at Winamac Church of the Nazarene, Winamac.
