State adopts rules
for cemeteries

CHICAGO – New state rules on the operation of cemeteries in Illinois have been put into place.

In a news release, the state’s Department of Financial and Professional Regulation said it has adopted regulations needed to implement the last piece of the Cemetery Oversight Act.

Under the new rules, all cemeteries must obtain a license to operate a cemetery in Illinois or they must register as being at least partially exempt from the act.
