The Episcopal Churches of Saint Peter in Sycamore, and Saint Paul in DeKalb, will join together in a unified service of worship to celebrate the Feast of Saint Peter and Saint Paul the Apostles. This is the second such annual service, and will be offered this year at 6 p.m. Thursday at Saint Peter’s in Sycamore. All are welcome to worship.
The celebrant and preacher for the evening will be the Right Rev. Jeffrey Lee, Bishop of Chicago. He also will confirm 12 youth and adults from both congregations, as well as Saint Bride’s in Oregon, and Saint Luke’s in Dixon. In confirmation, those baptized at a young age or in other Christian traditions express a mature commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and laying-on of hands by a bishop.
In addition to the clergy of Saint Peter’s and Saint Paul’s, the Bishop will be assisted by the Rev. Steve Lowe, deacon from Saint Mark’s in Geneva.
A dinner will follow the service in the parish fellowship hall.
Saint Peter’s is at 218 Somonauk St. in Sycamore. The church is accessible to the disabled. For more information, call the church office at 815-895-2227 or visit www.sycamorestpeters.org.
