Performances to support breast cancer awareness
Children’s Community Theatre of DeKalb continues its 2012 season of musicals with the Northern Illinois stage premiere of Legally Blonde, the Musical, opening June 29 for a four performance run.
Performances are June 29 to July 1 with a Friday and Saturday night performance at 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. All performances are held at the O’Connell Theatre in the Stevens Building on the Northern Illinois University Campus.
Tickets are $10 for general admission and can be purchased on CCT’s website at www.CCTOnstage.com. Tickets also are available at the door, based on availability.
Legally Blonde, the hilarious MGM film turned Broadway smash hit musical, follows sorority star Elle Woods, an underestimated blonde who doesn’t take “no” for an answer. When her boyfriend dumps her for someone more “serious,” Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and sets out to go where no Delta Nu has gone before: Harvard Law. Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.
“Legally Blonde, a contemporary heartfelt story, is extremely funny, musically pleasing and appeals to diverse audiences – young and old,” Kris Pagoria, director of the production said in a news release. “I am eager to showcase this performance for the first time in our area.”
After each performance, cast members of Legally Blonde, the Musical will make their way to the theatre lobby wielding buckets of pink ribbons to greet audience members and accept donations for the Breast Cancer division of the American Cancer Society.
“As the theatre turns pink for Legally Blonde, it is only befitting that we take this opportunity to raise awareness and ask our generous audiences to think pink and support The American Cancer Society’s work at the state and national levels in the fight against breast cancer,” said Pagoria in the release.
Don’t miss your chance to experience this award-winning musical. Tickets for Legally Blonde can be purchased by calling CCT box office at 815-757-1874 or online at www.CCTOnstage.com.
