CHICAGO – Illinois' new top doctor has a message for men during National Men's Health Week.
Illinois Department of Public Health Director LaMar Hasbrouck said the week is "a great reminder" to all men to take their health seriously.
He's encouraging men who are overdue for medical appointments to take time to schedule a checkup. He points out that men are less likely to visit the doctor for annual exams than women. He says it's a pattern that must be reversed.
Hasbrouck was a keynote speaker during the Men's Health Week events at the Komed Holman Health Center in Chicago. He reminded attendees to focus on solutions. He urged them to work on removing barriers and making it easier for men to access care.
