Liners fall at home after late hit
SYCAMORE – John Loeffler drove in the go-ahead run to give the Northwest Indiana Oilmen the lead in the ninth inning and they hung on to beat the DeKalb County Liners, 2-1, on Sunday in Midwest Collegiate League action at Founders Field.
With the score tied at one, Hunter Pruitt reached on an error to start the ninth. He then went from second to third on a groundout by Brandon Krieg. Finally, Loeffler came to the plate and singled, scoring Pruitt.
The Liners couldn’t get anything going against reliever Danny Britt. Britt held the Liners hitless over four innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one to earn the win.
