Mulso: Crowning student royalty is a Genoa chamber tradition

It’s that time of year again. Graduation ceremonies and parties are being planned.

It is so exciting and rewarding to see our young adults looking toward their future careers, and searching for their passion in business and work. College graduates are looking forward to continuing education or preparing resumes to look for that dream job. High school graduates are career planning and registering for higher education, and middle school students are making class choices for high school. It is a wonderful time for students of all ages.

It also is a very special time for the Genoa Area Chamber of Commerce as we plan for our 53rd annual Genoa Days King and Queen Scholarship Contest. It all begins with the G-K High School seniors choosing 10 young men and 10 young women from their classmates to become semifinalists. The chamber’s King and Queen Committee then judges the questionnaires returned by the semifinalists and announces the five male and five female finalists.
