Deadline is Monday for IVT summer workshops
The deadline for Indian Valley Theatre’s summer theater workshops is coming fast. With their two sessions, IVT offers children of all ages a fun, safe and rewarding atmosphere to learn about theater and build confidence. Whether this is their first exposure to theater or they are already comfortable on stage, IVT has a place for everyone.
IVT’s first workshop session, Children’s Theatre Workshop, will be held June 18 through June 29 and is for students entering first grade in the fall through eighth grade. The cost for the two-week program is $80 per student. Now in its 29th year, this year’s theme is Knight of the Dragon, which takes place in an ancient land full of creatures that include knights, gnomes, fairies and of course a dragon. The workshop leads up to performances for friends and family at the Sandwich Opera House. Every child is cast in a part adapted to fit their specific talents and needs that allow them to explore, imagine, create and have lots of fun.
The Advanced Workshop, Whose Line Is It Improv, lets high school students explore the unknown, follow the funny, and create something amazing and unexpected. Students will have fun while learning to hone skills like creative thinking, spontaneity, self-confidence, team-building, and their sense of humor. The Improv workshop culminates with a performance on the stage of the Sandwich Opera House. The Advanced Workshop is for students entering high school in fall through graduated seniors. Classes run June 18 through 22. The cost for the one-week program is $60 per student.
