DeKalb’s Kulma loses in 4th round of consolation
DeKalb junior Matt Kulma’s state tennis tournament ended Friday with a 6-3, 6-3, fourth-round consolation loss to Metamora’s Will Koehrsen. Kulma finished the state tournament 3-2 and advanced to the second day of the tournament for the first time in three appearances.

NIU track athletes Frye, Mitchell miss cuts
Northern Illinois women’s track and field athletes Roneisha Frye and Janay Mitchell were eliminated in their respective events Friday night at the NCAA West Preliminary Round.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Frye came a split second away from making it to today’s final, finishing sixth in the second heat in 13.68 seconds. She finished 31st overall, but was three-hundredths of a second from the final spot.

Mitchell placed eighth in the second heat of the 200, finishing in 24.63 seconds to take 42nd overall.
