Ventura patient with Beckham, Morel

CHICAGO – White Sox manager Robin Ventura has preached patience with the bottom third of his lineup.

Third baseman Brent Morel and second baseman Gordon Beckham have drawn the most scrutiny, both hitting under .180 while combining for 42 strikeouts through the season's first month. Ventura didn't sidestep the issue Tuesday, acknowledging that the Sox can't survive the lack of production much longer.

“Eventually you probably have to do something," Ventura said. "Right now I'm believing what I see and talking to them. I want to know what they’re thinking, too. I'm still confident they're going to perform. But eventually it gets to the point where you would have to make a move if it would stay like that. But right now I'm not going to do that.”
