Police investigate abuse allegations after death

MOUNT PROSPECT – Suburban Chicago authorities are investigating abuse allegations after a 4-month-old baby girl who was reportedly injured at a day care center died.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office pronounced Anna Belle Chung of Hoffman Estates dead Saturday morning. Authorities said she suffered unknown injuries at a day care center that police described as a residence.

Paramedics were called to the center last week because the child was not breathing.

Illinois Department of Children and Family Services spokesman Jimmie Whitelow said the agency is investigating allegations that the child was abused.

An autopsy is set for today.
