ROCKFORD – A 19-year-old man has been acquitted of murder in a fatal shooting in Rockford.

The Rockford Register Star reported that Alex Salgado was found not guilty Thursday in Winnebago County Court.

Salgado was charged in the shooting death of 23-year-old Steve Miller of Lindenwood.

Miller and another man were walking in Rockford in September 2010 when they exchanged words with one of four men in a vehicle. Prosecutors said one of those men later approached Miller from behind on foot and shot Miller several times.
