Illinois promotes emergency planning for pets

SPRINGFIELD – Pet owners should remember their pets when planning for severe weather and other emergencies. That's the message in a new series of radio ads from the state of Illinois.

The ads feature Chicago radio legend Larry Lujack and his former partner Tommy Edwards, the courtside announcer for the Chicago Bulls.

The two resurrect their characters "Uncle Lar and Li'l Tommy" to deliver lighthearted reminders about including pets in emergency plans. They suggest being ready with food, water, ID tags, vaccination papers and other supplies in case you have to leave your home in a hurry.
