Candidate debates 
set for Thursday

DeKALB – The DeKalb City Council Chambers will be the site of a candidates’ debate and forum Thursday.

Candidates for state Senate 35th District, 23rd Circuit Court Judge, state representative 90th District, DeKalb County State’s Attorney, DeKalb County Treasurer, and DeKalb County Board Districts 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 are scheduled to participate. Information on the upcoming City of DeKalb’s referendum on electricity supply will be provided.

The DeKalb County Clerk’s Office will provide sample ballots based on a voter’s residency and there will be educational materials on new voting districts

Anyone not registered to vote can participate in grace period voting in the City Hall Annex across the street from the event before 7 p.m.

The forum is hosted by the League of Women Voters of DeKalb County. All are welcome to attend, and attendees can submit questions for candidates. Questions short enough to fit on a 3x5 card have increased chances of being chosen.

DeKalb City Hall is at 200 S. Fourth St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; the debate starts at 7 p.m. The debate will be broadcast live on public access Channel 14. Daily Chronicle Managing Editor Kate Schott will moderate the debate.
