More than 2M Ill. tax
returns have been e-filed

SPRINGFIELD – State officials say the number of electronically filed income tax returns is up more than 10 percent from last year.

The Department of Revenue has received more than 2 million returns electronically. Officials say refunds due to online filers will be paid in about a week.

E-filing returns and using direct deposit on refunds save money on processing and speed refund payments.

The state maintains an interactive filing program called WebFile. But taxpayers can ask their preparers to electronically file their returns or commercially available tax-preparation packages offer online filing.
