DeKalb girls volleyball coach Stephanie Gooden, citing personal reasons, told the Daily Chronicle today that she has resigned as head coach.
"I think when you get to a certain level, you don't want diminishing returns on a personal or a professional level," Gooden said. "When you hit that point, I think you have to make a very unselfish choice or a selfish choice, to put the program before yourself, and what you feel needs to happen.
"If those kinds of things can't happen for your professionally or personally anymore, then you've got to step down and trust that the administration will do its best to hire someone who has not only coached at a high level, but played a high level. I think that's really important."
We'll have a full story on Tuesday's Daily Chronicle.
