Bears to release Adams

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

The Bears have informed defensive tackle Anthony Adams that he will be released instead of returning for a sixth season with the team.

Adams, 31, had one year remaining on a two-year contract that he signed in July. He appeared in 63 games (40 starts) with the Bears from 2007-11, but he lost playing time last season to teammates such as Amobi Okoye and Stephen Paea.

Adams confirmed the move Sunday evening.
