CHICAGO – More than half of Illinois voters disapprove of Gov. Pat Quinn’s job performance, and just 30 percent approve of what he’s done, according to a recent poll.
The Chicago Tribune/WGN-TV poll of 600 registered voters was conducted Feb. 2-Monday, and interviews began the day after the Democratic governor delivered his State of the State speech. The poll has an error margin of 4 percentage points.
Sixteen percent of voters had no opinion.
The Tribune reports the poll shows Quinn’s approval rating is at its lowest level since early September 2010, when it registered at 28 percent.
The governor fared better in the Chicago area than the rest of the state. His approval rating was 43 percent in Chicago and suburban Cook County. In the collar counties of Chicago, 57 percent of voters said they disapproved, while 27 percent said they approved.
But outside of the six-county Chicago area, 65 percent of voters said they disapproved of Quinn’s performance, and 18 percent approved.
