Neil Hamburger's bad jokes make for a good night

His timing is poor, his jokes are out of date, and he looks like he’s constantly drenched in flop sweat.

On the surface, these are not the makings of a great stand-up comedian. But that hasn’t stopped Neil Hamburger from gaining a cult following among alternative comedy fans across the country – and especially in DeKalb – over the past 15 years.

Hamburger – an act created by comedian and musician Gregg Turkington – returns to DeKalb Friday, headlining a show at Otto’s Niteclub & Underground, combining his love of old-time show business with a cutting, temperamental sense of irony.
