Pritchard appointed to plain language task force
SYCAMORE – State Rep. Robert Pritchard, R-Hinckley, has been appointed to the Illinois Plain Language Task Force.
The task force was created two years ago but has not been active, according to a news release from Pritchard’s office. The state legislation was prompted by a Federal Executive Order covering Federal Agencies and Administrative Rules to incorporate everyday words, pronouns, active voice and short sentences in communications.
Pritchard, who holds degrees in communication and serves on the House State Government Administration Committee, sought to be appointed to the committee to encourage use of plain language in government correspondence, documents, contracts and legislation.
Pritchard is asking residents to send him examples of confusing correspondence from state agencies and documents that may be written in legal language as examples as the task force seeks to encourage clearer communication. His district office is located at 2600 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL 60178, and his district office phone number is 815-748-3494.
