Clothing drive a success

To the Editor:

On Jan. 14, we wrapped up our First Annual Winter Clothing Drive, and it was a huge success.

We would like to thank all of those who came out and donated items to benefit the residents of Hope Haven in DeKalb.

With the help of our community’s individuals and businesses, we were able to deliver hundreds of items to Hope Haven including winter coats, hats, scarves, gloves, boots and miscellaneous clothing and blankets.

Watching the generous people come in and donate new and used items reinforces our pride in being a part of such a philanthropic community.

We had a lot of fun going through everything to get it ready to send over to the people who need it most.

We will continue to host this drive every winter and know that if we set goals to surpass what was collected this year, the DeKalb/Sycamore communities will answer the call and help us reach those goals.

Thank you to all who helped with this drive. See pictures from the clothing drive at our Facebook page!

Thanks for blizzard help

To the Editor:

A 2011 post blizzard thank-you!! Thank you to my awesome Fairway Oaks neighbors! One neighbor took another snowbound neighborhood nurse to work at Kishwaukee Community Hospital. Several neighbors used their snow blowers to dig each other out. One neighborhood firefighter/paramedic dug him self out in the early morning to get to the firehouse to protect our community. Thank you all!!
