Prairie Flower: Gobbler Gallop

To the Editor:

The Waterman Lions Club’s fourth annual Gobbler Gallop was a huge success.

Over 350 people came out Nov. 20 to participate in the event,
and because of the generous support of our sponsors, all the participant fees went directly to help fund Lions projects and programs.

The club would like to thank our sponsors for their generous support.

Sponsors at the Director’s Level included: Rolling Thunder ROTC (LTC Lars Jacobson), KishHealth System, Monsanto, Pub West (Trent Taylor), and Ken Spears Construction (Ken and Kathy Spears).

Sponsors at the President’s Level included: Midwest Orthopaedics (Drs. Steve and Michele Glasgow), Waterman State Bank, Nextera Energy, DeLongh and Company, Banner-Up Signs (Ed Kuhn), Panera Bread Company, Caribou Coffee (Jackie Butz), Trattoria Da Francesca (Kim and Marcello Greco), and Michaels Brothers Supermarket (Dave and Julie Michaels).

Sponsors at the Supporter’s Level included: Christine Johnson (DeKalb County Treasurer), Mike Mooney Chevrolet/Pontiac/GMC/Cadillac, Farmers and Traders State Bank, Olson and Associates (Maria Olson), Resource Bank, Ekle Heating (Tom Ekle), Linda Swenson, Peter Post Plumbing, and Martenson Turf Products (Jeff Martenson).

In-kind donations were provided by Honey Hill Orchard (Steve
and Kathy Bock), Waterman
Winery (Terrie and Alexa Tuntland), Indian Oaks Country Club (Anita O’Bryan), Sycamore Café (the Papasevastos family), Kauffman Turkey Farms (Bob and Sue Kauffman), Splash of Color (Al Haseman), Mary Kay Products (Betty Thuestad), Unique Concepts Salon (Patty Pumfrey), Kishwaukee College Horticulture program (Janet Gallagher), Longaberger (Audra Boehne), Kishwaukee College baseball team (Coach Josh Pethoud), Naperville Running Company, Pacers Running Company (the Farley family), Ben Mueller, Target, Schnucks, and Dick Pond Sporting Goods (Glen Kamps).

Special thanks to the village of Waterman, the Waterman Public Works Department, the Waterman Police Department, the Waterman Fire Department
EMTs, Indian Creek School District, Indian Creek High School band (director John Feken) and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Auxiliary.

Most of all, the club truly appreciates the support of all those who participated in the event and the efforts of the surrounding community.
